I was woken up at 5:30 with a migraine and although I managed to go back to sleep the headache was still there when I woke up. It was a Monday and the pain was easing, I’m one of those people who avoids painkillers and I’ve an allergy to Sumatriptan, which is an ingredient they use in migraine relief, so I figured the fresh air on the walk to work would do me good. It didn’t.
By the time I reached the office I knew there was no way I could stay. I was feeling spaced out and I had no energy at all. The sound of other people’s voices were making the pain in my head worse. The lighting in the office was making it worse. I don’t actually remember seeing my team leader when I spoke to her, I remember the vivid colour of her sweater and hearing her voice because she told me I shouldn’t have come in to work. So I went home to sleep it off.
I didn’t get out of bed for the rest of the day.
