Triptan Allergy!!!

When I first started suffering with the occasional migraine in 2006, Sumatriptan worked a treat. About 2 years later I had a reaction to it so we never went down this route again.

On the 7th June 2010 I woke lethargic. I was unable to get out of bed and I was spaced out. When I left for work I hadn;t made it to the end of my street before I turned around and came home. I wore sunglasses but the light burned my eyes. My GP did a neuro response exam and I had slight altered sensations. He prescribed a new triptan and told me to take it with ibuprofen.I could only take 2 in 24 hours.

I took ibuprofen when I got home and the Almogran as soon as it arrived. The Almogran worked but as it wore off the symptoms returned. The headache never went away. I took more ibuprofen and went to bed early, cautious that if I took the Almogran before bed I couldn’t take any before I went to work.

I woke up at 5:30 Tuesday morning with a migraine. So I took the Almogran then. I managed to go back to sleep. When I woke up at 7:00 the reduced sensation had spread all over my right side. And I mean ALL OVER. (My forehead, cheek, jawline, shoulder, waist, arm, hand, butt, thigh, calf, foot, toes EVERYWHERE!!!)

I rung to speak to my GP. They told me be wasn’t in that day but He called me at 12:00 noon – see what I mean about their fabulous at my practice. I explained my symptoms and he told me to take the last Almogran tablet and if it didn’t ease my symptoms or if they worsened I should go to A&E.

I went to A&E at 6pm. I was admitted for a week.
